Airbnb blocking calendar out when hosts cancel

I recently accepted a booking and then realised I needed the house for a portion of the period booked. Subsequently, the guest requested I cancel the entire booking and I of course complied.

Airbnb automatically blocks the entire timeframe out when a host cancels, however this seems harsh if it is a long booking and the mistake only related to a few days.

Is it possible to request Airbnb adjust the period blocked out? Or must I forfeit this entire period for potential future bookings?

I feel I have learnt my lesson haha

Ouch, @Peter368!  Tough lesson to learn.  Since the penalty is automatically applied, it wouldn't hurt to speak with a representative to see if there could be an adjustment.  If you need help with contacting Air BNB, please see the community guide on this site.

Unfortunately there are PENALTIES applied to hosts who cancel reservations - one of which is having your calendar blocked.  This is to deter hosts from canceling on guests and disrupting their travel plans.  Lesson learned the hard way.
