Australian Hosts and Pricing Issues

Over the weekend, several hosts posted here on the Community Center that the price for their listings is showing lower than they have set their rates.

I cannot confirm but it may be possible that Airbnb switched all the Australian accounts from displaying in AUD to displaying in USD.  I took two screenshots of calendars in USD and AUD.  If you see that their is no currency code beside the price, this means it is in USD currency.  If it has another currency, that currencies abbreviation will be beside the dollar amount (AUD, CAD, etc.)  You will probably need to change back to AUD if you would like to see your listing in AUD funds.  Instructions are found below.  You do not need to change the prices in your listing.

To change the VIEW of the currrency, scroll down to the bottom of the page and change the USD to AUD and then you will see the prices on your calendar in AUD.

@Dave-and-Deb0 I had a really interesting experience a couple of weeks ago Dave. I happened to be on my listing page and I noticed the letting amount was showing up in English Pounds! My first thought was that I had accidentally accessed and interfered with my currency settings, but when I went into that section, my prefered currency was listed as $au.

Going back to my home page, there it was....... the letting amount still showing in Pounds. Within a minute or so I received a booking request from a guest in London UK! As soon as I accepted that request and it became a confirmed booking the letting amount on my page reverted back to $au again

Is this a normal phenominen Dave...Cheers...Rob

Hi @Robin4,

I don't know Rob.  It does sound weird but I have found anything can happen on Airbnb as seen through several posts on several different forums.

Hi - I have had this problem but it is nothing to do with currency.

My host side shows $290 and the customer side showed $44 per night.

Also the weekend higher rate of $300 for Friday and Sat nights is not showing up host side or customer side.

It is only showing up for certain dates (4-11 Jan) where as other shorter dates are ok. I've already checked the weekly discount to see if that was the issue and on host side it shows up at 10% which is correct.

Yesterday I received a booking I accepted the booking and then realised the error so had to cancel it. Now I can't reinstate the days to secure a new booking as air-bnb has locked it. HELP!!! Don't want to miss new year booking opportunities. Anyone got ideas of how I can fix this?

@Justine18

"so had to cancel"

You messed up.  You did not read the instructions on being a host, now you are paying for your lack of reading the instructions.

You will also have money taken from your future bookings.

Bet you will not cancel again.

Thanks. I have done that on Dashboard. Calendar shows correct A$ pricing now. Hope it stays that way. But WHY did it happen in the first place? It is very annoying for both host and guest to have to sort out the ness.  John.

@John63,

The guest will see whatever currency they have theirs set at.

@Dave-and-Deb0 thank you SO much for clearing this matter up, I've experienced the same issue - I'm in New Zealand. All sorted now thanks to your insights!

It is driving me nuts.

I have a guest who wants to book 2 apartments - I have given her a round number for both (in euros) but I cannot set the price for each correctly. It is showing up on my screen in dollars. We have exchange so many emails that I am ready to give up and cancell both bookings

Hello @Jadranka1,

I am sorry to hear of your fustration with this. When you switch the currency at the bottom of your page (as in @Dave-and-Deb0's post above) are you still experience this problem?
