Guest cancel at last minute and airbnb refunds all their money

Just had a guest reserve 3 days to stay and they booked 5 days before they were supposed to be there. I have a moderate cancelation policy. The day of their stay they canceled and expected all of their money back. 

They said it was bad weather. I checked tripcheck they are in Oregon also and it was raining.

All roads were clear to travel. 

My main problem is that she could have told me that she might have to cancel due to weather.....

if it was June no big deal it's January in Oregon......we get lots of bad weather almost every day.

Its like saying you cant go to Alaska if its snowing. 

Airbnb has stone walled me now they say the matter is closed I can do nothing. 

Any reccomendations?

Extenuating Circumstances....

Similar thing happened to me lasy year, I am high up in the Rockies and it snowed, not a lot and not windy but it made no difference.

Nothing you can do, one of those things, hopefully it does not happen very often/cost you too much.

Thank you for the response. It is so frustrating. I just wish the guest had told me she might cancel so I could be prepared. 

I felt she wasn't honest about her situation.

Does it help to put the cancelation policy to strict?

Extenuating Circumstances overrides any policy you set so Strict makes no difference.
