I personally greet every guest. I show them around the place and then we sit. While I suggest them where to go and what to see in Split and surroundings, I write that in a notebook during are conversation so they can be reminded later. After a few guests, I got a first "Thank you for....." written message on that notebook. And after that every other guests wrote "Thank you for....". So dont put away hand written messages because, on the one hand, when the guests read these messages they can be confident and sure from the start that they had chosen the right place to stay. On the other hand, reading these messages they will be motivated to write their own in that notebook. And after their staying, remembering those hand written messages ( that are more personal then typed one), they would leave you a really nice review. But that does not mean you dont have to be a good host all of the time of their staying:). This is just a little boost in your great hosting! Try it and see:).
