Obvious scam request???

Hello all,

I received the following message in my HomeAway listing:

"Hi Theoharis, I will come to Greece for approx. two weeks in next few days.
This trip is a vacation paid by my company. I have a good friend and I'll
stay at his place.

I can give the link of your house on Airb@b to our office managers, so
they’ll book it for me there and pay for it, but I will NOT use it, because
I will stay at my friend’s home.

Please, let me know, if you can give me the part of total, that you'll
receive from my company. I want to share with you 30% of the total that
you'll receive, for your help. Can you help me with this?
Regards, "

What I find interesting, is the fact that they will obviously pay Airbnb via CC, if this CC is stolen or compromised, will Airbnb ask me for the money back?

Has anyone else seen something like this?

This user appears to be in Ukraine...

Many thanks,

Theoharis

Hello @Theoharis0,

Definitely don't accept such a booking. One thing is that, unless you are officially a business freindly listing, Airbnb doesn't allow third party bookings. The person who makes the booking must stay with you.

One other thing is that he's asking you to accept a booking and you'll get only 30% of the price. Not a good deal.

Steve.

Various ways this could play out, the normal one is that they want to pay by cheque, and overpay, or in this case are asking for a refund for not staying, you pay them and find out later the cheque is a dud.

He's asking you to be complicit in perpetrating a fraud against his company and yours.  Whether you get stiffed by this guy or not, why would you risk your reputation for a couple of bucks?  As my mama always said, if they'll do it WITH you, they'll do it TO you.
