booking irregularities

So I've booked about 3 different airbnb's in AZ and Utah for our upcoming vacation, and have had no issues. Click click confirm done. Just as with our European vacation a few years back, very quick and easy.

But now I'm trying to book a fourth one (in Nevada) and all of a sudden I'm getting asked to provide a scan of my drivers license and a pic of myself using either an app on a cell phone or a camera in my PC. I have neither a cell phone nor a camera in my PC, so that isn't going to happen. I don't understand at all why I'm being asked for this all of a sudden. Is it just something random, or is it this particular bnb that is requesting it ?

It's annoying as Hell, lemme tell you.

I think that the requirement for a verified govt id is becoming more wide spread on the AirBnB platform. I myself require a verified id before accepting a booking. For me, it is a way to feel more confident that the person I am contracting with is who they say they are. So far, no one I have asked to do this has wxpressed any concerns with it.
