Guest wants to stay after 28 days?

I entered this last night, now can't find it on the site, and am looking for replies.  I have two guests coming in Friday Jan. 13th for 28 days.  They want to stay longer as they look for a permanent house to rent.  How do I enter their request?  Do they need to check out and then check back in a day or two later?

Before you let them stay beyond 28 days, make sure that the laws in your state do not allow this guest to achieve resident status by staying longer and you are tied to landlord laws regarding this. https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/376/what-legal-and-regulatory-issues-should-i-consider-before-ho...

If they want to extend their stay, they can request a reservation change on the Airbnb site.

You can, as a host, also initiate this process.

I am dealing with this same issue. My belief is we, Airbnb hosts, are going to run into this more and more since rentals are getting more and more expensive for people, credit checks, deposits, etc. The guests are telling you that they are looking for a place to rent, but in reality, they are not.  They are hoping to settle in at the host's home and never leave.  I will not take on anyone for more than the 28 day.
