Deposit

It seems Airbnb is going to add a deposit by themself to a reservation, if they feel it is neccesary.

Reasons can be (quoted form link below) "This can happen if something stands out when we review the reservation details. Factors may include the timing of a reservation or the listing's features."

I wondered what is meant by "something stands out when we review the reservation details" ?

It is also remarkable that such a deposit has more security because of the "authorisation process".

What I don't like is that guests can overide the strict cancellation policy, and get a full refund 2days before checkin by cancelling a card or reporting it lost.

Two days before your stay begins, an authorisation hold for the security deposit amount will be placed on your payment method

If it turns out we can’t authorise the hold for the security deposit amount, you’ll be notified by email and will have 12 hours to try another payment method. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll cancel your reservation and you’ll be refunded.
