host cancelled on us

booked a trip to miami about 3 months in advanced everything paid for including the airbnb, got a message from the host today saying that we will not be able to stay on our dates booked, with only 1 week to go until our trip almost everything is fully booked. and the only listings available are $400+ a night, what do we do ??

You might try to contact Airbnb to ask for relocatevyou, @Troy43. Don't cancel the trip yourself and don't accept alterations.

I hate when hosts do this (unless of course there are extenuating circumstances).

 

Did the host tell you why they can't accommodate you?


Make sure you keep all communications with the host on Airbnb messaging. Hopefully they will have cancelled the booking. If they haven't ask them to do it now.

 

Then call Airbnb (contact details at the top of this forum). Tell them what has happened and they will give you a 10% credit in addition to the refund (once the guest cancels). Push them to help you find somewhere else within your budget  (they can help you identify available accommodation but sometimes need encouraging .
