Change reservation option - please add possibility of blocking dates in another listing

Recently I had to offer a guest the other of my listings. To do so, I had to make the dates available in the other listing. What happened was someone else booked the other room before the guest accepted the alteration. So then there was nothing else to do but to cancel the second reservation.

So dear developers of the site, would it be possible to add a possibility of blocking the dates in the case of alterations so that such a scenario was avoidable? Just like it is possible with reservation requests.
