Cancelation / Coupon / Refund

Hi, 

Just had my reservation cancelled by host for ligit reasons. AirBnB offered a full refund, or i can re-book another reservation with the booking amount. Plus they offered a further $44.61 on them (only if the new reservation is more expensive). What they do not explain however, is if the new reservation is less expensive than the original, will I be refunded the price difference to my original payment method? 

I have seen bad stories about coupons, and when I go to book my new reservation the payment is covered by a coupon. However nothing is mentioned about getting a refund for the price difference from the original amount paid.

Does anyone know if they will honour and refund the remaining amount? Or will it be "lost" as it is now part of a coupon?

I don’t know the answer but admin is not a strong point with AirBnB- I would just take your refund and you are back to where you were.
