Broken furniture and BBQ grill

Guest broke a chair (looks like they stood on it - one leg is broken off), and broke the valve when trying to attach a new propane tank to outdoor BBQ grill.  Guest has admitted wrong-doing and offered to pay.  How do I proceed?
