No, they are not.  You can only send e-mails through an encrypted link.

You can, and should, ask for it.  I send a short rental aggreement as a pdf attachement. It has my name, address, home and cell number and my email address. It also has a form at the bottom where they can fill in their info. It also has lines to fill in the names of all registered guests, up to the number of guests I allow. I tell them to sign it and fill in the info and scan it or take a picture with their phone and send it back to me.
