AirBnB on-line booking system is unreliable

The on-line booking system is terrible to use. During a verification process, a security code was supposed be sent to my cell phone via SMS, but I had never received it at all. I kept trying but ended up with a message saying the Max attempt times were reached and please try it later. I tried next day and the day after but was informed the same error message.
I believed my phone# be blocked by the system so I used my wife's phone# to continue the booking. After going thru' all the painful process (requiring image of photo ID and other very personal information) I finally input all the booking required information including my credit card's information but I never received any confirmation. So I gave up and booked North Rustico Harbour Inn hotel in PEI on Aug 19 instead.
That was painful and frustrated experience and we ended up paying $241 for nothing!

If you are looking for help with SMS messages, it seems like your wife's phone number went through just fine. https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/277/how-do-i-verify-my-phone-number?topic=356.  You can also use the "call back" option.  You might also want to check your phone that you allow for text messages from phone numbers not in your contact list.

Not sure what you spent money on with Airbnb if the reservation was never accepted.

Yes they did help but it will neither change my bad experience/impression nor refund the paid money.      

The paid money for a reservation outside of Airbnb?  Did you pay some sort of money to Airbnb that they wouldn't refund to you?
