A guest damaged our sofa bed. Should we make a claim?

Hi there, Our last guest bent the frame of our sofa bed when she tried to force it closed with the mattress in a poor position. They knew of the problem and showed my husband. It now rubs the sofa fabric when it closes and has a small tear there already. Should we make a damage claim? Does asking for part of the security deposit negatively affect us as hosts? Thank you in advance for your help.

You can try make a claim against your security deposit - you have to put in a claim within 48 hours of the guest departing and provide photos, etc... They will also ask for the guest's view of the claim.

 

Does it affect your rating? Well your guest can leave a negative review - which you can reply publicly to.
