Self check in - do guests prefer it?

Hey!

I manage on Airbnb with different apartments and all of the apartments has got a self check in option, lock boxes.

So far I use this possibility if I dont have any other option - have to be somewhere else etc. So quite rare times.

Yes, ofcourse it would save lots of my time, if I use more the lock box, but I always think that maybe guests themselves prefer to meet me.

I dont know why. Probably guests are very different and for example  guests who have had a very long trip, are usually so tired, that they dont want to talk and see anyone anymore and dont even remember what hosts talks about apartment on arrival.

Has there somewhere somekind of poll or something what guests think about it? 😄

How often you guys use this kind of option? Are guests still feel the personal touch if they dont meet the host? Or what you prefer if you were guest?
