withdrawn reservation

On Sunday, guest requested to stay for later this week. I accepted. They didn't make the payment within 24 hours and said needed to get bank limit increased. Asked me to hold space for next day. I said OK. AirBnB canceled reservation and notified me.

 

He resubmitted reservation request on Monday. I accepted. Got awaiting payment message all day. Just went back in and saw request withdrawn. I never got any notification from AirBnB. Exactly what is withdrawn vs. cancelled? Why didn't I get notified?

The first time probably the 24 hours time limit was exceeded, so reservation is expired. Then you normally receive an automated message from Airbnb "we are sorry payment was not made etc.. "

The second time the guest probably withdraw the reservation, due to not being able to make the payment. Cancellation can only apply to a confirmed (and paid) reservation.
