Amis Québécois bonjour/ Hi!

Mon assurance  La Promutuelle ne veut pas m'assurer si je loue avec Airbnb, quel est votre assureur ?

My insurance La promutuelle does not want to insure my house (even outside my rentals) if I am with airbnb, who's yopur insurance ?

Hello @Andrée-Anne0 We ran into the same problem with our insurance company when we went to list with Airbnb - they declined to continue to cover us. In our search to find a company that would insure us for Airbnb, we found there was only one that would meet our needs - Premier Insurance. We had to get a commercial policy and it's more expensive. 

I have seen some posts here from other Canadians - Wawanesa and Square One were 2 other insurance companies mentioned. It likely varies from province to province, but if you have a good insurance broker, he/she should be able to find some options for you.

J'ai eu le même problème. J'ai changé de Promutuel à SSQ habitation, qui disait m'assurer pour max. 30 jrs/an. Mais leurs conditions étaient gênantes, tellement qu'ils ont décidé de ne plus m'assurer pour mes locations via Airbnb... Là, je viens de changer pour Intact Assurance. Je leur ai mentionné mon mécontentement avec SSQ et eux (Intact) m'assurent pour 30 jrs/an max, sans aucune autre condition.

I'm curious did they give you any reason why they declined to insure you as a consequence of Airbnb hosting or was it hosting in general?

Bonjour! It was hard for us as well, (maybe in part because we have two units- on the same property) but we ended up with commercial ('Innkeepers'?) coverage too... through Dominion.

J'ai exactement le même problème avec la Promutuel. Mon courtier m'offre de changer mais ça me coûterait plus de 2000.$ par année pour une assurance spécialisée. C'est fou, je vais probablement gagner 5000$ par année avec Airbnb. Je ne veux pas en donner la moitié aux assurances! Surtout que ABB offre quand-même une bonne couverture de 1M- Je viens de faire une demande à la Capitale selon vos conseils, j'essaie aussi les caisses pop. Quelqu'un a-t-il trouvé une solution?

@Marlène23 I would suggest not counting on the 1M from Airbnb. They don't work like an insurance, and their calculations are formed from a few different points. Read this forum and you will see the struggles guests have with getting refunded for damages.
