We're thrilled to share that our Airbnb hosting business has been honored as a Certified Green Business by the California Green Business Network. ๐Ÿ’š

Here's more about the Network:

The California Green Business Network (CAGBN) is a community of small to medium-sized businesses throughout the state of California that comply with environmental regulations in the areas of waste, energy, water, pollution prevention, and air quality. These businesses have all undergone an extensive auditing process, implemented cost and resource-saving measures, and continue to use best practices even beyond certification.  Certified businesses undergo an extensive auditing process, implementation, and continual monitoring.

Led by a coalition of state, local, utility and non-governmental organizations, the program achieves its mission by recognizing and promoting businesses that meet high sustainability standards. The measured results of all 3000+ California Green Businesses put together nets some huge environmental outcomes: Over 800,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions reduced, the equivalent of planting over 40,000 urban acres of trees a year for ten years. Enough kilowatt-hours saved to power 25,000 houses for an entire year. Over 400,000 metric tons of waste diverted from the landfill, almost 60,000 garbage trucks worth of waste eliminated. 124 million gallons of water saved โ€“ a lot of toilets and shower heads folks! Over 28,000 gallons of hazardous waste were eliminated. The Network was formalized as an official state program in 2011 (A.B. 913 Feuer) and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We are honored to be one of these businesses certified to be Green - and to share this news with our community as part of the Festival of Sustainability!

Has your listing/business been through a green business audit (or similar), or is it something that you'd like to aspire to do?

We're looking forward to hearing about your sustainability journey.

@Kitty-and-Creek0 So many congratulations to you both! ๐ŸŽ‰

It's really quite an achievement and I'm so happy that you chose to share it with us! Perhaps you'll inspire other Californian Hosts to do the same. Have you mentioned it in your listing too?

Looking forward to hearing from you as always! ๐ŸŒ

Hi Rebecca - yes, we've posted the certificate in our photos, and we are very proud! We'd love for more hosts to go through the process and be certified. It was a real learning experience for us.

No It hasn't and as far as I know we don't have that option here yet.  However 2 of our cottages are off-grid with natural plunge pools.  Fully equipped with all the extras you need to make your stay enjoyable except for hair dryers & tv!  Our guests enjoy the experience

@Kitty-and-Creek0 thank you for sharing your achievement of being registered and certified for being a  Green Buisness.

To build our house in NSW we have to have 100 BAS points to pass the council requirements for being sustainable.

We are now looking to be assessed by a private company for Sustainability. But it is the researching which company and the costs.

All I can say again it would be good if Airbnb adopted a badge for Sustainability  for the Airbnb accommodation.

I am also looking forward to a sustainability certification or badge from AirBnB, as unfortunately not every location/region/state will have the Green Certification like the lovely one in CA, and/or it isnโ€™t practical for small businesses.
